First Sonnet

June 18, 2005

As I write this verse which springs from my hands
I give thanks to my God who rides in the sky
And He asks me if I would dare to ask why
These gifts I've received I'm to share with the lands.

The tears of joy flow from my eyes by the chance
That the peace that I love will allow me to try
To give hope to a world that without it might die
Give me strength, oh Lord, to believe in the dance.

My great jubilation is in trusting Your word,
The grace of the ages is found in my heart.
I need only speak and I will be heard,
We will make a new life by sharing our art.
The bliss and the peace in my soul that occurred,
The whole world will know as I make but a start.
