Tenuous Joyfulness

December 14, 2005

When I was a child, I lived for the day
Longed for a place for my heart to stay
Alone in my shell, I pushed you away
Rushing for answers, no time to play

My mind flows now with waters clear
Seeing perfect spirit of friends held dear
Shell of protection, wall born of fear
Shed for the moment, naked, drawing near

Fullness of life, flying soul's brave new way
Open to love, give and take, hear and say
Smiles and joy, so fulfilled, I appear
And yet, just beneath, I cry a new tear
