Veneer of Bliss

April 21, 2009

This veneer of happy bliss
Is about to dissolve
Leaving the real and true me
Screaming for escape
Screaming for death

I have been awakened
From the calming dream of sleep
Exposed to the utter chaos
Destroyed by the waking truth

I barely had the strength
To put the knife back in the drawer
Surrendering to the misery
Of the vanishing mysteries

I will survive another night
By a slim sliver of light
Shone down from above
By a patient and watching angel
