Chocolate Memories

April 4, 2009

Driving into the resort
Memories flooded back
One summer day
It still kept him warm

It ended with a feast
They ate and ate
Six glorious courses
Made the day complete

Her birch white hair
Flowed in the wind
As they faced the ocean
Its broad expansiveness

Converted in that day
From attraction to lovers
From interest to lust
From passion to fullness

He had kissed her goodnight
Tasted the remnants of chocolate
And just a hint of mint
As her essence lived on

It had started in chocolate
Two hands in one dish
Two smiles met
Two hearts, dark and sweet

Parking the car
He reached over, touched her hand
Saying the words, familiar and sweet
First shared at this very resort

"I love you."
