Double Shot

’Twas only two quick shots
He’d later be heard to say
That swept him through the fiery night
And left the brave of day

One double shot of tequila
And senseless waves drove by
As passion filled their starlight
Relinquished every why

I counted your every freckle
Subsisting in bright blue eyes
The reddest reds drove fire from ice
As newness did soon arise

Venerated vulnerabilities
A spoon-fed giving chance
They leapt into the creeping dawn
Were grateful for the dance

Quiet imprecisions
As two began the round
And one was left in silence
Perfection newly found
