Family Love

January 31, 2009

There is no better feeling
Than to be loved so completely
As we are in our family

No matter what, love persists
We accept each other
The good and the bad
No matter how bad it gets

But there is no worse feeling
Than to be so completely enmeshed
That we feel, not only our own feelings
But also those of the others in our family

Those people closest to us
Know how to hurt us the most
They sometimes, in their imperfections
In their selfish humanity
Touch our most tender wounds
And press hard
Until the pain is unbearable

Yet, still
There is no better feeling
Than to be loved so completely
As we are in our family
