Walking by the Brook

November 18, 2005

I was walking by the brook tonight
Smiling at the passersby
Heart dying, soul crying
Letting no one know

Tired of the waiting
Waning moments, newfallen dusk
I walk, and walk, and walk some more
Listening for angels' songs

Life happens while we're awaiting the ferry
I'll wait a few days more
Lonely days, light grows dim
Painful to contain my love

I want only to love you
And then to love you some more
Please, be on the next boat
My hand waits to touch your face

I'll be waiting here on the shore
For that fateful and glorious day
My God has promised joy and peace
Waiting, loving... here, I'll stay
