Confusion

Trust in the confusion, and
Let life come and go
Hold the chill no longer
Enjoy the falling snow

She walked in windblown silence
Through days that ambled fierce
And felt the star-swept wonders
That bathed her wand'ring tears
As night overtook
Her fallen, smile

She stood bright in the darkness
And strolled through daylight rain
Outside her wearied life
A witness to her pain
As hope dwindled
And sorrow, remained

The blue lights came to visit
And red; a dream, or real?

The bar was open late that night
She parked her rusty ride
A moment's hesitation
And then she walked inside
Through the darkened silence
To meet her willing doom

An empty smile beckoned
An open barstool called
"Hey barkeep, keep 'em flowin'
And quench the thirst inside
Till one drink then another
Fuels, this bumpy ride"

The bar eventually closed
And Sue was on her way
The cold and lonely bed stood wait
She made the final turn
As red and blue lights
Were reason for concern

The drunk test showed point two
Was far more than enough
The handcuffs cooled her pity
She rode the lonesome mile
Forsaking lost plans
Gave up, her phony smile

Trust in the confusion, and
Let life come and go
Hold the chill no longer
Enjoy the falling snow

The blue lights came to visit
And red; a dream, or real?

Trust in the confusion, and
Let each raindrop fall
The heavy cell door closes
An ending to the pain

Hold the chill no longer
Enjoy the ending wait
Drenched in heaven's sorrow
Accept your prison's fate
