Mountaintop

November 29, 2008

Cold water flows
From the melting snows
Of the sun-drenched mountaintop
Carving new paths
Creating new schisms
As a frozen season ends
And a new time begins

Cold water flows
Streams joining
Forming raging rivers
Forging new rivers
Carving new faces
On the ancient mountain
Immovable
But not untouchable

Cold water flows
In time, reaching peace
Of the still lake
In time, warming slightly
In time, taken up
To the growing clouds
In time, falling
To rest for a time
On the mountaintop
