Song of the Bluebird

September 24, 2005

bluebird on the windowsill
first light of the day
sun sends me an urging ray
butterfly invites me to play

last night i cried a hundred tears
encumbered by a thousand fears
remembering, still feel the chill
shake off the fog, cold held at bay

bluebird on the windowsill
first light of the day
sun sends me an urging ray
butterfly is waiting to pray

i tossed and turned as night grew dark
rowed the heavy boat, sought the dream
demons taunted from banks of the stream
i choose to fix my eyes on the far off mark

bluebird on the windowsill
first light of a new day
son sends me an urging ray
joining my butterfly to play
