Feet

April 12, 2008

They walked a mile for you,
Down a long and lonely street;

Though sometimes they grow weary,
I thank you for my feet.

Moving again to deeper faith
Through ever-present feelings;

Thank you for the rocky way,
That leads to deeper healings.

Thank you for the hunger,
That feeds my urge to eat;

Thank you the gifts,
Of bread and fruit and meat.

Thank you for the lessons,
Of fear and loss and wrath;

Though sometimes hard to walk,
I thank you for the path.

Though always, you’re beside me,
At times, I’m lost in fear;

But, in days of painful lessons,
Your love is always near.

They walked a mile for you,
A long and lonely street;

While sometimes they grow weary,
I thank you for my feet.
