I rise in the early dark with you, Abba, Father;
Hearing you, feeling your lovingkindness.
In you I trust, with thanksgiving—
Grateful for every good thing, and
Every unjust trial, each temptation.
I stand at the door;
You hold the key in your great hand;
I knock, and
You open.
Let us greet this sudden day,
Finally, with gladness, in faith.

And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
