The Leap

All this knowledge that we have glimpsed, seen, accepted, and gathered, is meaningless without action. We know not love unless we think, speak, and act in love. In thinking, speaking, and acting in love, this Love we know to be Truth is actualized, made Real, made manifest. It's not always so easy, but is there any other choice? Can we be anything but love after having tasted love's perfection?

The time has come to act, to choose, to decide, to live, in love. The time has come to leap. Love awaits. Here and now. Love awaits.

Many of us have neared or reached this point – this moment of decision when we have learned all we can learn about the journey thus far and the time for baby steps ends. We stand at the gates of heaven, more aware and ready than ever before in our lives here, and we wait...

Fear visits again... and doubt. The path thus far has been steep. Rocky. We've left much behind. We're not so attached to the thoughts and possessions and beliefs we once held dear. In a very deep place, the Universe calls out to us. We know of no other way. We're standing on the mountaintop, or perhaps just a few steps away, shielded from the bright sun by a rock...

Three choices stand before us. Stay here, where it still feels relatively safe and familiar, descend back down to the valley where we once dwelt, or leap, leap into the place of divinity, of higher love, of lesser attachment to the world and its illusions.

We often fail to realize that we've stopped. We're relatively happy in these new lives we've created. We understand and live, for the most part, lives of love and forgiveness. Many of our old shadows have left us. Life is appreciably better than it was in the valley. It's also appreciably and demonstrably better up here near the peak than it was on the journey up. The journey was difficult, the path, harsh and painful. We've earned some time here, we tell ourselves, some time to rest and heal.

But we find that waiting doesn't make the choice to leap into the unknown, into the abyss, into the Waiting Universe any easier. We find, before long, that we desire to continue to grow, to learn, to progress on the path. But the path has changed. We can't take many more steps before we're standing on the peak, with nowhere left to go but Up.

Sometimes it feels like we're standing on a cliff, rather than on the top of the mountain. And we fear that diving into that Unknown (and yet somehow Known) place that is our destiny will end this life we know and have known. We realize that we still do have some attachments we need to set down before we'll be ready to leap. We think the world as we knew it will end. Somehow, we know that the world as we knew it will end. One thing is certain, nothing will ever be the same.

How long we stand here in stagnation is still our choice. Many never take that leap into Divinity. Some choose to descend back into the valley and try a new path, a different religion, tradition, body of knowledge, teacher, whatever. Some of those never reach the peak again. And some do, and are faced with precisely the same three choices, wait, descend, or leap.

Looked at in this light (or Light), descending the mountain of awareness and growth back into the valley to find and climb another mountain of awareness and growth, another path to enlightenment, seems an imprudent choice. Yet still, it's the choice many of us make. This is not meant to be a judgment. The choice to try a new path is a valid choice, and for some, their destined choice. Likewise, the choice to wait is sometimes the most suited, the best choice that person can make in that stage of their semi-awake state of partial bliss.

But true Bliss, utter Bliss, complete Bliss, is achieved only as we leap. We've tasted some of the fruits, know something of love, peace, and joy. But to reach the next stage, to evolve, to truly reach a state of enlightened and aware love, requires both the choice and the act of the Leap.

It's easy to be awed, and thus a little intimidated, in this moment of truth, of decision. It requires great faith, garnering all the fruits we've gathered along the way, and yet, from another perspective, setting them all down, lightening the load even more than we have, in preparation for this new leap of faith, this flight into a new awareness. Brought down to its essence, we need only answer a single question: “Do I really trust and believe in the Love that is the Universe?” If the answer is “yes”, the choice is easy. We leap.

But for most of us, lingering doubts and fears keep us stuck here for a time. How long a time is, in truth, our decision. If we weren't ready to leap, we wouldn't have climbed to this place where the opportunity to leap is before us. As we choose to be ready, setting aside lingering beliefs and doubts, choosing to let the Universe help us to trust, we take the plunge, we leap, and life is brand new. In that instant, we know that life will never be the same. We have fully surrendered to Love. The result is the Holy Grail, the Presence and Peace of Eternity.
