Chapter 11
Onward, Living and Sharing a New Way
“Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough.” – Og Mandino
"Try and fail, but don't fail to try." – Stephen Kaggwa
Perhaps the most difficult of steps to take in the attainment of a goal or dream is the final step. But having embraced the path, both failures and successes, prepares us to continue to walk, and indeed to take that final step. Each day, as we make progress toward our intents, we are changing our mindset to one of success and attainment.
We embrace each and every small failure – some admittedly begrudgingly, but we embrace them nonetheless – and in so doing, we learn to walk through each and every trial, difficulty, and setback.
Embracing failure, before long, creates success, by minimizing the effects of the failures. “What we resist persists.” The inverse of that quote by Sonia Johnson is that what we embrace loses its power. So contrary to what we may perceive about this concept, contrary to what the ego will attempt to tell us, embracing failure, in the context of a diligent and consistent walk toward an intent, will indeed aid in actualizing and manifesting that intent.
This, of course, is not all there is to know. Embracing failure is but one tool, one concept, one facet, of a life of abundance and fulfillment. But, in the greater context of a life of love, peace, wisdom, attraction, giving, receiving, learning, etc., the mindset of embracing failure yields significant, even great, benefits.
Writing this book has been a journey for me. I have a strong sense that many of my difficulties of late were attracted to me to help me to not only understand this concept, but to actually create an environment where I was prompted to live the mindset of embracing failure. It became, for me, not merely an idea to write about, but a large part of how I continued to live, learn, grow, and indeed thrive through the adversities.
In walking through the failures, I continued to grow stronger, to learn about the fears that sometimes attracted my failures, and with each day, my resolve to continue was strengthened. The result of this for me is huge. I've finished this book. I have become a writer. I am becoming a publisher. I am living the life today that I have for years dreamed of, even intended. But intent alone was never enough. I had to take action. Action bolsters faith. Bolstered faith encourages action. Embracing failure ensures progress.
In the end, it's not really the end that matters. It's the journey. As we walk this journey, we learn, we love, we laugh, we create, we find what we want, and we find a way to have it. Without the journey, without the difficulties, what we receive has little value. Walking the path, along with others, collaborators, friends, supporters, engaged in the beauty of creating and sharing our dreams, bliss is possible. As co-creators of reality, why not choose bliss? Why not embrace each and every moment? And why not continue walking, embracing each step, each success, and yes, each failure?
My wish is that you will find all that you desire in this life, not only at the end, but in the middle. In the midst is where life is lived. It's where love blooms. It's where creation is fulfilled. May you embrace each moment, each step, each triumph, and each and every failure.
