Chapter 2

A New Mindset

“Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit.” – Vince Lombardi

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein

The mind is complex and wonderful creation, self-aware and desiring good, in part, and yet also not. We humans live in a world of duality, of contradictions. Ask almost anyone if they desire happiness and success and they will answer “yes.” Ask if they really in their heart of hearts believe they will have that same happiness and success and more often than not, there is hesitation.

We are conditioned by a world of negative and fearful influences, and as both the law of attraction and common sense tell us, negativity breeds negativity, fear attracts fear. And this is true both outside and inside. Outside influences of lack create feelings of lack inside us. Inside feelings and perceptions of lack create more feelings of lack. We are coming to realize more and more that our inside feelings and perceptions create our outside reality.

These thought patterns, residing in most of us for most of our lives, nurtured by a world of fear, are firmly established. The first step then, in the process of learning, accepting, and embracing a new mindset, is to identify and break through the thoughts that hold us captive. There are many methods and paths to this end, but they all begin with recognition.

• Can you see how your negative thought patterns invite more negative thought patterns?

• Are you willing to see that outside fears create an environment of fear inside you?

• Can you admit to your self that your best efforts have not brought the success for which you've dreamed?

• Do you find that you begin projects and then abandon them as they become too difficult?

• Are you ready to let go of your fears? Are you willing to look within and find their source?

• Are you ready to change?

If your answers to all or most of the questions above are “no” this book cannot and will not help you. You might just as well discard it immediately or postpone its reading until you're ready.

If, on the other hand, you're ready to consider another way that may well lead to happiness, peace, and success, read on.
