Present Strength

April 16, 2008

As dad held my hand
I walked in his power
Confidently knowing
Each step, every hour

Always assured
I knew where I stood
Through the darkness and light
Of my old neighborhood

Growing up and apart
From the place that was home
There were moments of fear
Where my mind stood alone

Walking without him
In fear, pain and loss
Forgetting the lessons
Learned from the cross

Closing my eyes
For a moment of peace
Inviting my Father
All darkness release

Perfection in strength
Holding His hand
Like the child and his dad
In confidence, stand

Trust in the power
That’s stronger than you
The Father is present
Faithful and true
